Northwest Toby's Midnight

2007 Black Gelding

Toby enjoys going out on the trails.

He loves to lead the group and never wants to go back to the trailer.

At three days old, little Toby was full of energy and keen to explore his world.

At 1 month of age, Toby had already started with his halter training and was learning fast. Like most Rockies, he is easy to train and catches on very quickly.

By six months of age, Toby had grown a lot, lost his baby fur and become very black

Toby had a long winter coat when he reached his first birthday.

By eighteen months of age, our young gelding had lost his winter wooly coat and was looking much more like an adult horse. He still had his friendly Rocky disposition, was always wanting to be petted and was usually the first yearling colt to come to the gate to be haltered.

At two years old, still with a little of his winter coat left, Toby enjoys the spring sunshine.

Our January baby started his saddle training in the arena, in the middle of winter, shortly after his third birthday. Once Spring came we took him out on the trails. He rapidly adapted to trail riding and was clearly much happier there than in the arena.
