Northwest Mountain Horses is located in Spanaway, Washington. We are a small family owned and operated farm, specializing in Rocky Mountain Horses. We usually have several quality, smooth gaited, trail horses for sale. Check them out on our sales page.
Ever since we first encountered the Mountain Horse breeds we have been convinced that they have what it takes to be the best trail horses. With their gait, temperament and stamina, they make a long day on the trail very pleasant. Many of our horses have proven themselves to be true mountain horses, in Washington's Cascade mountains, on trails above 6,000 feet.
Bobbi Socks, Cinnamon and Callie are shown above at the top of the Crystal Mountain ski lift, almost 7,000 feet above sea level. Callie and Lady Godiva are shown below on top of Green Mountain at 5,000 feet.
All of our brood mares are certified to breed by RMHA and we register all of our foals with RMHA, soon after birth. We usually have several horses for sale, ranging from foals to seasoned trail and show horses. Check them all out on our sales page.
When they are not working on the trails, most of our horses live outside in pastures. The few who overnight in stalls usually spend their days outside too, with plenty of room to run around. We believe this makes them happier and healthier than life in a stall.

While our major interest is in riding and raising trail horses, several of our horses have been successful in the show ring too. Bon Jovi is shown above, on his victory lap after winning the championship at the 2007 Oregon State Fair, in Salem, Oregon. Bon Jovi also won many other events for us, including the 2008 UMH Classic Pleasure Regional High Point Championship. Our other successful show horses include Bobbi Socks, Callie, Spark's Cinnamon and Slate View's Mtn Rose. Pictures of these four and information on their show-ring successes can be found on their own pages.
We aim to give our horses the widest experience possible, from mountain trails to ocean beaches.
We have several horses who are not only saddle trained but also trained to drive.
Our Rockies are like the mailman -- They are out working, regardless of the weather
